Tresillian House

Tresillian is a beautiful Georgian country house set in 22 acres of private gardens, with lawns, orchards, ornamental lake with a fountain, and if course its productive walled vegetable garden. Sited just 3 miles from Newquay, the house is within easy reach of Cornwall 's beautiful beaches and celebrity chef restaurants. The house is completely renovated and very comfortable. The walled garden is presided over by renowned head gardener John Harris.

What could be better than fruit, vegetables and herbs straight from garden to kitchen!

John will show you the traditional methods that make the walled garden at Tresillian one of the finest in the country. Kate will show you how to make the most of local ingredients at their seasonal best.

There are only two or three courses each year at Tresillian.

The ground floor also features a full height stair hall with a fine oak staircase and balustrade balcony beneath an octagonal roof light.

There is a formal drawing room with Carrara marble fireplace and wonderful garden and lake views and access to the terrace. There are BBQ facilities on the terrace too.

There is a library with flat screen TV and DVD plus a range of family board games and cards.

Bedrooms

The country-house style bedrooms are situated on the first floor. Five bedrooms are en suite, and the others served by an additional bathroom. There are 4 double rooms (two with four-poster beds), one twin bedded room, and one bedroom which can be twin or double.

Bathrooms

All the bathrooms at Tresillian have great character and wonderful views. They are fitted out with high quality sanitary ware. All en-suite bathrooms have both bath and shower facilities. The family bathroom has a free-standing cast iron bath. The bathrooms all have heated towel rails and/or radiators.

Our courses

Our three- and five-day courses offer inspiring tuition and personal attention in small groups. Meet and learn from Cornwall's finest artisans - butcher, fisherman, pasty maker, forager and chocolatier.

How it all began

Kate ran a trial cookery school at Elmore Court in Gloucestershire as part of the Channel 4 documentary Country House Rescue. As a result, the Walled Garden Cookery School was born!
