Elmore: birthplace of the Walled Garden Cookery School!
Elmore Court in Gloucestershire has been the seat of the Guise family for 750 years. It is a distinguished stately home set in thousands of acres of rolling countryside on the banks of the river Severn.
Kate ran a trial cookery school at Elmore as part of the Channel 4 documentary Country House Rescue . The Walled Garden Cookery School was born.
Although the school at Elmore hasn't taken off (yet!), the good news is that Kate's inspirational courses at Tresillian, near Newquay in Cornwall, have been a stunning success. The house is fabulous and really comfortable. The gardens are gorgeous. Courses are small. The atmosphere is very much like a house party.
If you liked Kate on the programme, Tresillian is where you'll find her...
Our three- and five-day courses offer inspiring tuition and personal attention in small groups. Meet and learn from Cornwall's finest artisans - butcher, fisherman, pasty maker, forager and chocolatier.
Kate Benson is an experienced and inspiring cookery teacher. She trained at Leith’s and is head teacher at the renowned Bordeaux Quay cookery school in Bristol. She is a cookery writer and broadcaster and edited a food glossy in Hong Kong.
The house, gardens and grounds of Tresillian provide a beautiful setting for this break with a country house party atmosphere!
